Flooring · Vinyl plank
Waterproof, quiet underfoot and forgiving over a slab. Vinyl plank is the floor most Central Coast houses end up with when the brief is “timber look, but it has to cope with real life”.
These are the ranges we use most. Open one to see every colour in it. We can supply other ranges from our suppliers too, so ask if you have one in mind.
Worth knowing
The plank itself will not swell. That is the difference between vinyl and a timber based floor, and it is why it ends up in kitchens and hallways.
A flexible vinyl plank absorbs more sound than a rigid core. With decent underlay it is the quietest hard floor we lay.
A thinner plank follows whatever is underneath it. We check level at the measure and tell you then if the slab needs work.
Both are waterproof. Vinyl plank is flexible, quieter and softer underfoot; hybrid is rigid, firmer and more forgiving over an uneven slab. In a bedroom or upstairs, vinyl plank; across a whole house with kids and pets, often hybrid.
The plank is: water will not swell it. What is not waterproof is a join with water sitting on it for days, or the floor underneath. For a laundry or a bathroom, sheet vinyl with almost no joins is the safer answer.
Usually, once the floor is flat. A thin plank shows grout lines and dips, so tiles are normally smoothed over first. We check it at the measure.
Sweep or vacuum, then a damp mop with a pH neutral cleaner. No steam mops, wax or polish. Each range’s care guide is on its page.
Usually two to three weeks. If the colour you want is in stock it can be quicker.
